Heaven Has a Floor

Mother, did you like the story, Heaven Has a Floor? It is not really a story. It is more like an exposition. It is telling you about heaven and what it is like.

I remember you telling me about heaven. I remember you wanting to make sure I was going there.

I do plan on going, but right now it looks like you may get there first. We never know. But I just wanted to talk to you about that.

I don’t want you to have any fear. Remember, the Lord is our shepherd. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me. Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

You don’t need to be afraid, Mother. Some people talk about it as passing. I like to think of it as a promotion. You will be promoted. It will be so wonderful. You will feel like your real self again. Probably better than you ever felt. It will be a wonderful time, Mother.

You heard, that, didn’t you?

I want to make sure you hear the angels calling. I brought you some ears. The angels may be calling your name one of these days. I want to make sure you hear them.

I know you will want to go too.

There is something else. I have read that it is really bright in the passageway, because Jesus is light, and he is really bright.

These sunglasses don’t provide a lot of shade, but I’m sure there will be more sun or light than you have ever seen before. So, you can tell Jesus that I warned you. Now whether you take these along, that is doubtful, but it’s going to be really bright, Mother. So don’t be surprised. There is going to be a really bright light.

And then I know you always worked hard. You always wanted to do your best. You always made us do our best. So, I brought you this medal. It says, First.

I’m sure you will get lots of stars or jewels in your crown. They will say a lot of good things about you. So many wonderful things are going to happen for you when you get to heaven. We are excited for you, Mother. We love you, Mother. We will see you there.

So, if you get there before I do, or Dad, or the others in our family, look for a tree. I am going to look for a tree near the river. Meet me by the tree, Mother. We can sit by that tree. Remember, I like trees. Remember the first story I read was A Tree is Nice.

So many people are going to want to see you and greet you. I don’t know many people who have had three mothers. I’m sure they will all be waiting for you. It will be a party when you arrive. You like parties. You like celebrations.

Remember the stories I read that had celebrations? They celebrated for Elmer’s Day. They celebrated for Tillie. You are going to have many celebrations. It’s going to be fun. Don’t be afraid. The Lord is our shepherd. We shall not want. I love you, Mother. Thank you for being my mother.
