The Little Engine that Could

One of the reasons I picked the story, The Little Engine that Could, is because I still hear what you used to tell me. When I would say, “I can’t...,” you would say, “Can’t never did anything. Yes, you can!”

I still hear you saying that to me. “Can’t never did anything.” So, when I hear those words, I remind myself of the Little Blue Engine. Because the Little Blue Engine said, “I think I can. I think I can. I think I can. I think I can. I think I can!” And I can. I do those things that at first, I thought I couldn’t.

So, you are still telling me I can do things. I can stretch. I can go beyond myself. I can use the gifts I have. I can. I want to thank you for that, Mother. Thank you for telling me I can.
